David Koma: Ready-To-Wear SS24

Florals? For spring? Well, that was the case at David Koma’s show, where the designer’s SS24 collection doubled as a homage to the English rose. He was inspired by a photograph of the late Queen Elizabeth II when she was a young princess, riding a motorcycle during her military service in the early 1940s. “This season is a celebration of Queen Elizabeth, who was an avid gardener and an ever-present fixture of the Chelsea Flower Show – her timelessness and elegance always inspired me,” said the designer.

Despite this, the collection wasn’t prim and proper. Instead, the Georgian designer leaned into an adrenaline-fuelled wardrobe that collided beefy biker jackets littered with 3D floral embellishments with sensual, floral-laden evening dresses cut high up the thigh. There was plenty for the David Koma girl to shop here. Like crystal-embellished minidresses that saw glistening, cartoonish flowers dance along silk organza, to tulle dresses embroidered with hand-shaped acrylic petals. This season, the designer was in full bloom.
