Balmain: Menswear SS20

On a huge and elevated stage built especially for the Balmain x (RED) festival and runway show; dozens of models showcased designer Olivier Rousteing’s new spring collection for the house. Moving spotlights and smoke ramped up the rock concert atmosphere.

The super-long runway fed from the stage and through the crowd – a mix of V.I.Ps and the public – whilst huge speakers pumped music into the air. You could feel it. The clothes? A mix of space-age silver boiler suits and bright-white tuxedo jackets minus the conventional lapel; a see-through trench had mirrored bits plus a standout neoprene biker. It was the perfect high-octane wardrobe, and event, to chime with Paris Music Weekend currently in full swing.

Rousteing’s runway-meets-live-music addition to the annual music weekend (both the fashion show and after-performances were also open to the public) was in support of (RED) the global fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. This was high-end fashion meets music for an incredible cause.
