Antonio Berardi: Pre-Fall 2017

It can never be denied that Antonio Berardi is nothing if not a master of tailoring. What this man can’t do with a pair of scissors and a needle and thread doesn’t bare repeating. Think of this collection as a demonstration of his technical prowess. Sort of like a QVC segment selling a magic mop which could absorb a flooded suburb and only need to be wrung out once. Whether your a fan of QVC, or mops for that matter, or not, you have to admit thats pretty impressive. All the usual Berardi signatures are here, sharp, shapely suiting, thats been given a delicate hint of femininity in fit and flare waists that mimic the kicky hemmed trousers with which it’s paired, a racey lace up detail sneaking it’s way round the torso. Layered ruffles, complete with tear drop cut outs come in floor grazing and thigh skimming lengths and show a more casual approach to Berardi’s usual high octane va-va-voom by being paired with wide yet shrunken ribbed knits, whereas studded skater skirts have you frantically Googling for a Dancing on Ice application form. As Berardi would surely say himself, he likes a strong and confident lady who’s not afraid to make herself heard. Feminine but in control. She’s certainly no wallflower.
