Marvin Gaye’s “Heard it through the grapevine” belted out loud, a wry closing comment on a season fuelled with rumours of designer moves and shakes. Miuccia Prada though isn’t going anywhere – she’ll continue to sit at the very pinnacle of the fashion industry, as this show served to prove. Where else – and what other designer – segues from denim through brocades to ruches and ruffled pumped-up taffeta prom dresses without batting an eyelid, nor coming off her high, pointy-pointy, spindly-heeled stilettos? Miuccia Prada was in party mode for this Miu Miu show, her audience strewn on banquettes, hoping and wishing and praying that one day they would get a chance to wear frocks like this. And how’s that for a closer to this Paris season, Tenners?
